I wanted to write this blog because Dudley and Kathleen Westgarth, my grandparents Char and YarYar, talked to me about the family. All the things I remember them telling me have come true as I research the past.
My Aunt Mollie also was responsible for starting my interest in the family, telling me about her brothers and sister. Her kindness to me is always in my heart. It was after she died that I found the letters of John Glasson, which I will be putting up in due course.
I have been putting information on the net which reflects the research efforts of the family of David and Judy Westgarth as well as my own. In this way we can make this information available to other researchers, instead of in folders of photocopies and photos!

Thank you for compiling the information on John Glasson. I am looking forward to finding a quiet time to read it. I am a descendant of John Glasson.
I am semi-retired and live in Thornlands near Cleveland just S.E. of Brisbane on Moreton Bay. Again thank you for taking the time for others to enjoy.
Kind regards
Roger Glasson

Are you any relation to the Westgarths of Corrs Chambers Westgarth?

Hi Jem
My father was John, Dudley’s eldest and only surviving son. He was the leading partner in Dudley Westgarth and Co until his retirement, when the firm was amalgamated into Corrs, Chambers Westgarth. His portrait should be in the board room, though they tried to sell it (and I made them keep it, so maybe not!!). I am not sure of the amalgamation date just now, but it would have been in the 1980s. If you want more details I will look them up for you.

I have found out from Stuart Westgarth that the amalgamation took place in 1992, so my father had already retired. However, the Westgarth part of Corrs Chambers Westgarth is the firm started by my grandfather, Dudley Westgarth, in 1937. I am not sure now if Corrs had the portrait from 1992, but they have it now.
